AI Synthesis System featuring High quality PCM Sounds
The M Series' AI Synthesis System makes it easier than ever before to bring the sounds and music you have in your head to life. What makes the Al Synthesis System so special? To start with, it employs four different types of built-in 16-bit quality sampled sound data, stored in 5 large capacity 2-Megaword (4-Megabyte) sound data bank. (The M1R EX is equipped with double the storage space. 4 Megawords. or 8 Megabytes.) Two independent synthesizer systems round out this advanced sound generation method, perfectly preserving the original sonic quality through all-digital signal processing. All aspects of sound production-from the actual tone generation and filtering, which determine the timbral quality of the sound, through to the amplifier section and built-in effects-are completely digital.

Sophisticated Sound Data Section-The Sonic Building Blocks
The tone generation section is the heart of the AI Synthesis System. it is composed of Multi-sound data, Digital Synthesizer Waveform data, Drum Sound data, and Separated Waveform data. A total of 144 sounds (275 on the M1R EX) are included among these four types of waveforms. Because of the wide variation of available sounds, you can select precisely the sound that you want, before you even building and editing it. Plus, you can assign different sounds to the two oscillators and create an absolutely unlimited amount of sounds.
Expressive Sound Shaping in the VDF and VDA Sections.
In the VDF (variable digital filter) and VDA (variable digital amplifier) sections, the basic sounds produced in the sound data section are shaped in both volume and timbre for the final sound output. The VDF shapes the sound with unprecedented clarity and flexibility, while perfectly preserving the crystal-clear quality of the original, 16-bit samples. The comprehensive built-in eight-track sequencer functions as the music "control center" for the Ml and M1R EX and has a maximum memory capacity of 15,40C notes (when used with a memory card). With the sophisticated Multi Combination mode which lets you assign up to eight different sound programs to different tracks, you can use the sequencer to create music just as you would with a professional multitrack tape recorder. The sequencer provides full editing functions, including punch-in/out recording and pattern copy features. The selectable step write recording operation enables greater convenience in creating rhythm parts and difficult-to-play passages. And all sequencer data can be saved to optional RAM cards.
Powerful Music Production Extras for Greater Potential
The M1 and M1R EX also include a performance editor function. It lets you change various parameters of the sound, such as the EG and cut-off frequency of a sound program or the overall level of a Program in a Combination, without the need for selecting individual parameters. Musically, that means you can make broad, dynamic changes to the sound in real time, as you play. With the User Scale function you can set up your own original tunings of instruments by changing the pitch of the twelve tones of the equal temperament scale (C to B) over a SC-cent range. This lets you, for example, reproduce the subtle tuning nuances of various acoustic instruments, as well as create unusual scales. Additional sampling data and sound programs can be loaded from optional PCM Cards and Program Cards, further expanding the potential of the M Series.
